We develop and study data-driven and interactive technologies to understand and support human adaptation, mental health, and well-being.
HAILAB, short for Health Analytics and Interaction Lab, is a research lab in the School of Digital Humanities and Computational Social Sciences at KAIST. Our work focuses on digital healthcare technologies that help us better understand and support psychological and behavioral adaptation.
Drawing on psychology and psychiatry, we use methods from data science and engineering, including artificial intelligence, mobile and web technologies, virtual reality, digital sensing, and interactive systems, to measure, understand, and support human behavior and mental health.
Our research involves a wide range of populations, including university students and young adults, patients, healthcare professionals, counselors, and specific occupational groups. We study topics such as early detection and intervention for mental health problems, social relationships and adjustment, stress and workplace experiences, continuous monitoring, and digital treatment and support services. Across these areas, we are particularly interested in how technology can be designed and used to address real-world human needs.
